Great post, Gina!

Deep POV can be a wonderful way for readers to connect with your character by experiencing their emotions and thoughts as almost their own. It's as close to the subconscious chatter and sensations we all listen to in our own heads every day.

I find it builds suspense and helps in characterization; because I write comedy, deep pov works especially well in bringing the "oh poop!" to a scene. (Because comedy is pain.) By creating that connection with the reader, the humor is heightened.

Thanks all! Great tip, Gina, I hadn't even noticed it. I haven't worked at this in a while, but I really like the H/h, so I think I'm going to take it up again. Maybe at W-O-W!

I liked the first person too. There's already a great feeling of really caring what happens to the character. Very nice work!

He has his work cut out for him, all right. It really makes me want to know how he's going to get around that wall of hers!

The first line appears to be a teaser...is he commenting on her poor fashion choices or her amazing green eyes? I know I have to keep reading to find out but I think you hit the nail on the head with just how not interested she is.

I like how you set the scene and the period dialogue. This is quite a subject to tackle and I can't wait to read more!

Oooooh, who is she? It's great when a memory lingers but it's not too familiar, both to character and to reader. Thanks for the glimpse into this new series, Gina!
