Great post, Gina!

Deep POV can be a wonderful way for readers to connect with your character by experiencing their emotions and thoughts as almost their own. It’s as close to the subconscious chatter and sensations we all listen to in our own heads every day.

I find it builds suspense and helps in characterization; because I write comedy, deep pov works especially well in bringing the “oh poop!” to a scene. (Because comedy is pain.) By creating that connection with the reader, the humor is heightened.

The first line appears to be a teaser…is he commenting on her poor fashion choices or her amazing green eyes? I know I have to keep reading to find out but I think you hit the nail on the head with just how not interested she is.
